A unique Inter School Sports meet was organized by FAME India, an NGO which works for students with neuro developmental disabilities. This event was conducted on December 9th 2015 to commemorate International Day of Persons with Disabilities. Complying with the UN theme “Inclusion matters: access and empowerment of people of all abilities.” FAME India has put in phenomenal efforts in mobilizing resources to make this event happen. The special schools, the mainstream schools, the musical band choir from Nivedita school, NCC cadets from National college, Volunteers from Deutsche Bank,Oracle,Zyme Solutions, Nordson, CISCO financial support from corporate, individual donors, parents speaks volume about the organization’s efforts to sensitize the community thereby REMOVING ATTITUDINAL BARRIERS and paving a path for an Inclusive Society.
The programme commenced with a March past by 14 contingents of various Special Schools and Main stream Schools. The musical band choir from Nivedita School (30 students) and the NCC contingent (40 students) from National College added colour to the event. FAME India had planned events for all the students including for the wheel chair bound. The highlight of this sports meet was the integrated events comprising of both students with special needs and mainstream school students. Nine Special Schools and five main stream schools participated in this event. In all over 234 students participated. The Chief Guest Mr.Arvind Rao, Vice president, Zyme solutions hoisted the flag and started the sports meet open at 9.35 am. Padmashree Ms. Malathi Holla Krishnamurthy, International para athlete and Arjuna Awardee gave away the prizes and encouraged the Students. The Championship trophy was bagged by Spastic Society of Karnataka and runners up by Sophia Special School.
